The Auckland Town Hall glimmered in platinum as the Lewisham Awards celebrated 20 years on Sunday 23rd October. ‘Twas an evening of past, present and future Auckland hospitality peers donning their best dressed as individuals were crowned ‘Outstanding’ by their fellow peers.
Twenty years ago, a discussion was had and an idea was born!

“Auckland’s too disparate, too big, too complicated to be the subject of a world class hospitality awards programme. This was the commentary laid at the feet of a tenacious group of Auckland hospitality and sector suppliers twenty years ago when they resolved that they could and they bloody well would! A committee was formed, an inaugural chair, Tony Adcock elected and with the approval of the Lewisham family, the Lewisham Awards were born. Named for the late Rick Lewisham, who with Chris Goddard helped modernise and internationalise the Auckland hospitality scene – remember the VBG? – the Lewisham Awards continue to celebrate and foster excellence in this all-important industry. While the politicians continue to bury their heads in the sands of their non-reality, brave and courageous customer and tourism-oriented hospitality entrepreneurs continue to lead the charge in the City of Sails bringing live entertainment to its people and visitors through innovative cuisine, great food and beverage all delivered by caring and passionate front of house teams. Many past Lewisham award winners feature prominently throughout Auckland’s vibrant and all-important hospitality network.”
