RA advocacy activity in July 2023

We are proud to be a vocal, impassioned leader for our sector, having been in the corner of Kiwi hospitality businesses since 1972. At any one time, we have a variety of advocacy activities on the go, bringing real-world insight and rigour to the issues being considered by policymakers which affect our membership. Explore some of our activity over July 2023:

  • Continued to partner in the Activate Community/Activate Tāmaki Makaurau emergency response platform, including involvement in the delivery of business resilience programmes and training through the Activate platform
  • Represented the hospitality industry on the Rotorua NZ Board (1 x a month) – RA CEO appointed to Board July
  • Represented the industry on the Tourism ITP Leadership Group (July – Sept)
  • Represented RA on the Tamaki Business Leaders Group (meet x2 a month)
  • Represented the industry on the RSLG (Regional Skills Leadership Group) 1 x a month
  • Held Labour Party meet and great with selected members
  • Better Work Leadership Group – (Tourism Industry Transformation Plan) – Meeting 1-2 x a quarter.
  • Met with SkyCity Executives and leaders to talk about the Association
  • Letter to Hon Michael Wood, regarding his comments on the Hospitality sector and immigration policy settings
  • Submission on the draft Tourism Environment Action Plan
  • Received approval from MBIE to be an employer bargaining party for the Hospitality Fair Pay Agreement
