RA advocacy activity in April 2023

We are proud to be a vocal, impassioned leader for our sector, having been in the corner of Kiwi hospitality businesses since 1972. At any one time, we have a variety of advocacy activities on the go, bringing real-world insight and rigour to the issues being considered by policymakers which affect our membership. Explore some of our activity over April 2023:

  • After the launch of the RA’s 2023 Election Manifesto (end of Q1), the RA has been holding individual meetings with MP’s and group meetings with major political parties to discuss the Election and priorities for hospitality (RA Hospo Hop). National party Hospo Hop held in April.
  • Made a submission to the Productivity Commission on Improving Economic Resilience,
  • Continued to partner in the Activate Community/Activate Tāmaki Makaurau emergency response platform, including
    • involvement in the delivery of business resilience programmes and training through the Activate platform (April – June)
  • Represented the hospitality industry on the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Tourism Readiness Workstream (April – June).
  • Met with MBIE to discuss the CO2 shortage and proposals to help manage the impacts of the shortages.
  • RA CEO, Marisa Bidois represented the industry on the Tourism ITP Leadership Group (April – June).
  • CEO, Marisa Bidois, participated in a Town Hall discussion organised by MP Helen White, on the Auckland Council budget proposals.
