The Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) is the new temporary work visa now in place. Employers must be accredited to hire migrant workers on an AEWV and Step 2 – the job check – is tripping some businesses up.
Applying for a Job Check (Check list)
- A Job Check application must be made by an accredited employer
- Applications must be made using the approved online form provided on the INZ website.
- Employers must include evidence demonstrating that they meet the Job Check instructions, including:
- a detailed job description; and
- a proposed employment agreement; and
- if a labour market test is required, evidence of advertising the job.
- A fee must be paid for a Job Check application.
- Multiple jobs may be included in a Job Check application if the following details are the same for all jobs: the proposed:
- occupation; and
- location; and
- minimum guaranteed remuneration and maximum remuneration; and
- type of agreement (permanent or fixed term); and
- the minimum qualifications, work experience, skills or other specifications required for the job; and
- the job description; and
- the proposed employment agreement included with the application; and
- if a labour market test is required, the jobs are included in the same set of advertising.
What should your advertising include?
- the job description
- the minimum and maximum pay
- the location
- minimum hours of work
- estimated actual earnings if the job pays by piece, commission or there are other rates or bonuses
- the minimum skills, experience and qualifications for the role.
A fee must be paid for a Job Check application and if something has been missed you may end up having to pay for a new job ad, as well as a new Job Check application, so check you have all the correct details.
You can include multiple roles in one job check as long as:
- the job details are the same — for example they all have the same occupation, pay, location and minimum requirements
- they are covered by the same advertising and employment agreement.
