Traffic Light Review: Aotearoa to stay in Orange

posted on

In a release today the government announced that it had completed a review of the Covid-19 Protection Framework settings. It has decided to keep the country in the Orange setting for the time being with the next review planned in a months time.

The government has said that it expects New Zealand to see Omicron cases rise during the winter, and therefore the Orange setting remains appropriate for managing this stage of the outbreak.

“While daily cases numbers have flattened nationally, they are again beginning to increase in the Northern region and hospitalisation rates have also increased slightly over the past month. In addition, our latest COVID-19 modelling indicates that under current conditions, there is a likelihood of a secondary wave of cases appearing,”

COVID-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins
