Online snapshot survey: Impact of Covid-19, 23rd February, 2020

posted on

The Restaurant Association sought member feedback on the impact of Covid-19 in a series of short surveys.

This first survey was conducted at the end of February, 2020.

Key findings:

  • Compared to this time last year – 42.25% indicated a downturn in turnover
  • Asked if this was a result of current travel restrictions in place as a result of the international coronavirus outbreak – 40.38% said they believed this was the case
  • Asked if anecdotal reports of international travelers extending their stays in New Zealand – 70% indicated they did not think this was the case
MEMBER FEEDBACK:

“I think there is a downturn in tourist numbers across the board for a number of reasons, however, coronavirus is definitely adding to decrease in tourist numbers.”
