Online snapshot survey: Changes to operating hours

posted on

The Restaurant Association sought member feedback on the impact of Covid-19 in a series of short surveys.

This survey was conducted on 27 July, 2020.

As the country settled back into Alert Level 1 many hospitality businesses made adjustments to their operations, including operating hours and days.

Key findings:

  • 70% of respondents indicated that they had made adjustments to their opening hours or days.
  • 24% are opening one day less per week.
  • 63% indicated that they are closing earlier.
MEMBER FEEDBACK:

Lunch service was always a breakeven service for us that we could justify carrying when things we more optimistic. Post lockdown going straight into winter meant we were likely to be only breaking even for the next few months so we had to drop our unprofitable operations.”
