The government has announced that from 1 April 2025, the adult minimum wage will rise by 1.5 per cent to $23.50 an hour.
According to Workplace Relations and Safety Minister Brooke van Velden, this increase fulfils the coalition government’s commitment to moderate yearly adjustments to the minimum wage and reflects the current economic climate and labour market conditions.
In 2024, the minimum wage grew by 2 per cent, increasing from $22.70 to $23.15 an hour.
Training and starting wages will increase to $18.80 an hour, maintaining their rate at 80 per cent of the adult minimum wage.
