Understanding the policy and process to hire migrant workers

Presented by The Restaurant Association, with Immigration NZ representatives, Carl Andrews, Regional Relationship Manager for Immigration New Zealand and Craig Walsh, Relationship Manager – Sectors and Skills (Dunedin).

The Government is introducing a new immigration policy for employers looking to employ migrant workers. Known as the ‘Accredited Employer Work visa’ (AEWV), the policy is designed as a three-stage process (accreditation, the job check, and the AEWV application) and will impact the way hospitality businesses recruit migrant workers.

Employers can apply for accreditation from 23 May 2022 and for a job check from 20 June 2022 and the work visa opens to applications on 4 July 2022.
