Lifewise is a national non-for-profit organisation that works interdependently with Airedale Property Trust and the Methodist Mission Northern. Across The Three Trusts we have over 400 employees who provide a broad range of social services in Auckland and Rotorua.
• The Café Front of House is responsible for ensuring the needs of the café’s customers are consistently met with a high-level of customer-service and to create an environment that is welcoming and supportive.

About the Role | Mō te Tūranga

Merge Café is looking for a full-time Cook able to work:

40 hours per week
Monday to Friday, 5:30am – 3:00pm.

The position will support the Chef with daily kitchen requirements, preparing high- quality meals for customers, and maintaining good customer & team relations.

Duties | Mahi

• Serve meals to customers
• Manage and respond to customer requests when necessary
• Ensure the café is tidy & presentable to create a welcoming environment
• Assist with stocking supplies and clearing dishes
• Adhere to food hygiene regulations
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary for the efficient running of the café
• Ordering of goods to maintain stock levels
• Making coffee and other beverages for customers
• To provide other kitchen assistance as needed

Skills and Qualifications | Pukenga & Wheako

• Ability to develop a good working relationship with staff from all backgrounds
• Practice to comply with Food and Hygiene standards at all times
• Customer-oriented, welcoming and friendly demeanour
• A positive, respectful attitude, and upholding of professional conduct with all stakeholders
• Experience and/or knowledge of Front of House role
• Eagerness for professional development and upskilling
• Reliability & punctuality in attending to work, work duties, and meetings
• Ability to work under pressure & problem solve
• Physical ability (to lift and move kitchen equipment safely and with ease)

National Certificate in Hospitality (Cookery) (NZQF Level 4) New Zealand Diploma in Cookery (Advanced) (NZQF Level 5) Diploma in Professional Cookery (NZAF Level 5)
London City & Guild Institute Diploma in Professional Cookery (NVQ Level 3) (or 706/1 and 706/2)
Or a similar recognised cooking qualification at NZQF Level 4 or higher or comparative work experience.
Knowledgeable on catering for specialised diets common in aged-care. Good understanding of food safety regulations & kitchen hygiene practices. Ability to work collaboratively.
Must be already in NZ with a legal ability to work.
