Restaurant Association member briefing event policy

posted on

Member briefings and professional development are important to us – and it’s important to us that we are great hosts. The safety of you, other event attendees, our staff and volunteers and those at the venue is our top priority.

Covid-19 is still part of our lives, so we are constantly assessing the risks associated with the pandemic and are committed to following Ministry of Health guidance regarding events and gatherings.

Our Covid-19 event policy covers the following:

Ticketing:

In the Covid-19 Protection Framework, at all traffic light levels, it is possible to hold in-person events for less than 100 people depending on the size of the venue. Therefore our Professional Development courses and member briefings will be able to take place within these limits.

If the region the event you have purchased a ticket to is under the red setting and you do not feel comfortable attending the in-person event, we will offer you a credit for future professional development sessions as long as you give us 48 hours notice.

Where possible we will move an event to a new date but in the unlikely event that unforeseen circumstances cause this event to be cancelled, all delegates will be informed as soon as possible and a full refund of the ticket price will be provided. We are not responsible for travel, hotel or other costs incurred and encourage you to look at cancellation policies for these.

Contact tracing / record keeping:

Our member briefings and professional development workshops are held mainly at hospitality venues including the Restaurant Associations own venue Taste. Each venue will have its own contact tracing/record-keeping system in place in line with Covid-19 Guidelines.

We also keep records using our booking system to know who was onsite but these are not a replacement for the Covid-19 Tracer app or manual sign in at the venue.

Vaccine passes & Mask use

As our member briefings and professional development workshops are held in hospitality venues vaccine passes are required for entry to comply with the venue operational guidelines.

Please ensure you have your pass available to be sighted and scanned.

Masking requirements will depend on the current traffic light setting at the time of the event, so please check this prior to arriving.

Health & hygiene practices

If you are sick, please stay home. We don’t want others to get sick too. Call Healthline (for free) on 0800 358 5453 or your health care provider if you have symptoms of Covid-19. – please contact us as well if you cannot attend to discuss a credit for the event.

Please also stay home if you’ve been in recent contact with someone who has (or is suspected to have) Covid-19, or you have been instructed to self-isolate for any reason.

When you are at the event, follow basic hygiene measures:

Hand hygiene – frequently wash your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds, then dry them thoroughly. If you are unable to access soap and water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser containing at least 60% alcohol – we’ll have some available for use. If using sanitiser, ensure that you use enough to cover your hands and rub hands together until dry.

Cough and sneeze etiquette – sneeze or cough into the crook of your elbow or cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then put the tissue in a bin and clean your hands.

Avoid touching your face – hard surfaces can be contaminated with infectious droplets. Hands can be contaminated after contact with these surfaces. If you need to touch your face, clean your hands first.

Physical distancing – please follow the venues current distancing requirements. When physical distancing isn’t a requirement, you can still play it safe by continuing to keep a distance from people you do not know, when you can. Use your judgement.

What else we are doing to keep you safe

We work closely with the venue to ensure that cleaning and hygiene are maintained to the highest standard.

We are committed to following the government guidelines around safe event practices and undertake to update all relevant parties in a timely manner, should any major changes in either guidance or alert levels occur.
