We’re campaigning to introduce workable solutions to skill shortages. Find out more at hosporeset.nz.

The Reset campaign is running over a two month period, focused on raising awareness of our current staff shortages and engaging with the industry, the community and government to address and introduce workable solutions. Our proposed timeline for the campaign:

  • 9 June ~ Campaign officially launched. Media coverage begins.
  • 9 June ~ A petition is also launched highlighting the issue and our key requests to Government. The petition will run for 4 weeks. SIGN THE PETITION HERE.
  • 16/17 June ~ Letters sent from the Restaurant Association to the Prime Minister and key Ministers, including Minister of Immigration and Minister of Tourism.
  • 16/17 June ~ Members and other hospitality employers will be able to download template letters that they can adapt and send to Ministers and local MP’s. We want to make an impact by hitting a lot of inboxes. DOWNLOAD LETTER TEMPLATE HERE.
  • 16 June onwards~ Coverage begins – full page ads in papers, along with digital advertising. Funding to assist with this will be by donation.
  • 21 June ~ More information about proposed “lights out” event and proposed future stop work available, including video about how it works (also video on stop work etc) – We’ll encourage members / volunteers – tell us what you are doing. Collateral for the lights out – table talkers, QR code and posters available for download.
  • 6 July ~ Lights out event. We will be having a “lights out” where hospitality businesses turn off their lights / turn off the music / stop serving for 2-5 minutes. Participating businesses will be able to download a customer facing information providing further information about what the lights out is about.
  • 3 August ~ Petition presented to parliament.
  • 10 August ~ We’ll hold another “lights out” or Stop Work (depending on what the business decides). Business can choose a whole day, a shift, an hour but this will all happen on the 10 August 2021.
